1. Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to SNEK. By accessing or using our mobile application, you agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use our services.
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and SNEK. We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time, and your continued use of the app after such changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.
2. Eligibility
To use SNEK, you must:
- Be at least 16 years of age
- Be currently enrolled in a recognized college or university
- Provide accurate and truthful information during registration
- Have a valid college ID card for verification
- Not be prohibited from using our services under applicable laws
- Not have been previously banned from SNEK
By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you meet all eligibility requirements. Providing false information may result in immediate account termination.
3. Account Registration & Verification
3.1 Registration Process
During registration, you must provide:
- Valid email address or Google account for authentication
- Full name (must match your college ID card)
- Date of birth (cannot be changed after registration)
- Gender identity
- State and college name
- Valid college ID card
- Verification selfie (must match photo on college ID)
- Profile photos (4-6 images)
- Hobbies and interests
3.2 Verification Timeline
Your account will be manually verified within 1 hour of submission. You can access the app after registration but will have limited functionality until verification is complete. Verification status is clearly displayed on your profile.
3.3 Account Security
You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials. You agree to immediately notify us of any unauthorized access to your account. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your failure to protect your account information.
4. User Conduct & Community Guidelines
4.1 Acceptable Use
You agree to use SNEK only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree NOT to:
- Impersonate any person or entity, or falsify your identity
- Upload content that is illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable
- Share sexually explicit content, nudity, or solicit sexual content
- Harass, bully, stalk, or intimidate other users
- Promote hate speech, discrimination, or violence
- Spam, advertise, or promote commercial activities without permission
- Share others' personal information without consent
- Attempt to circumvent security measures or access restricted areas
- Use automated systems (bots) to access or interact with the service
- Engage in fraudulent activities or scams
4.2 Content Standards
All content you post (photos, messages, posts, comments) must comply with our Community Guidelines. We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these standards without notice.
5. Features & Functionality
5.1 Connections & Chat
Users can discover and connect with other verified students from their college or state based on selected preferences. When two users express mutual interest in connecting, a private chat conversation becomes available so they can communicate within the platform.
5.2 Groups
- Groups are visible only to users from the same college
- Users can join groups for free
- Group chats are disabled 1 hour after the scheduled event time
- Groups can be created up to 30 days in advance
5.3 Feed & Confessions
- Feed posts are visible to all users and display the publisher's name and college
- Confession posts are text-only and visible only to users from the same college
- Users can like, comment, and share posts
- Post publishers can delete inappropriate comments
6. Reporting & Moderation
We provide tools to report users, posts, and content that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines. All reports are reviewed by our moderation team within 24 hours (emergency reports within 1 hour).
Consequences for violations include warnings, temporary suspension, or permanent account termination, depending on severity. We reserve the right to remove content or terminate accounts at our discretion without prior notice.
7. Account Termination
7.1 Termination by You
You may deactivate or delete your account at any time through the app settings. Deactivated accounts can be reactivated within 90 days. Deleted accounts are permanently removed within 30 days.
7.2 Termination by Us
We may suspend or terminate your account immediately if you violate these Terms, engage in illegal activity, or if we believe your account poses a safety risk. We may also terminate your account if you are no longer a college student.
8. Disclaimers & Limitations of Liability
8.1 No Warranty
SNEK is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. We do not verify the accuracy of user-provided information beyond college ID verification.
8.2 Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, SNEK and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of the service.
8.3 User Interactions
You are solely responsible for your interactions with other users. We are not responsible for the conduct of users, whether online or offline. We do not conduct background checks on users. Exercise caution and good judgment when meeting people through SNEK.
